VA Medical CentersSince all VA Hospitals are approved for status as Medicare providers, veterans can utilize their Medicare benefits for home dialysis needs instead of their veterans’ benefits. This program drastically reduces the cost to the VA and reduces the VA Hospitals’ extensive monthly administrative paperwork. Over the years, it has been Koffel Medical Supply’s experience that most veterans’ clinical needs are handled within the VA system with the exception of dialysis, which is sometimes outsourced. As a Method II company, Koffel Medical Supply is responsible for the home dialysis supply and equipment costs associated with the care of any veteran they service. This provides the VA the ability to establish a home program that cares for both service related and non-service related veterans. All veterans would have the opportunity to dialyze in their homes, while enabling the VA Hospitals to keep these individuals within the VA system for all their clinical care needs. Koffel Medical Supply works with VA Hospitals throughout the United States to provide our veterans with the care, attention and respect they deserve. |
![]() A Brief HistoryIn 1997, John Koffel of Koffel Medical Supply made a presentation to the Department of Veteran Affairs at their national headquarters in Washington, D.C. At the meeting, he presented a unique concept of veterans using their Medicare benefits for home dialysis treatments. This program is designed to save the VA tens of thousands of dollars per patient per year. As a result of his presentation, Koffel Medical Supply received approval to approach VA Hospitals with this concept. Since that time Koffel Medical Supply has dedicated a tremendous amount of time and effort to educate the individual VA Hospitals regarding this concept and the benefits to their veterans. |
